Join us on Zoom (live & recorded) for a 90-minute workshop that invites yoga teachers and practitioners to explore a view of yoga beyond the dominant cultural lens of binaries and hierarchies. Come learn and experience yoga with us!
All are welcome. Facilitated by Becky Aten (they/she). Registered participants will receive access to the recording within 48 hours of the event.
Neuroqueering yoga, what's that? Society’s expectations for the ways we think, feel, move, connect, experience gender, or love don’t reflect true human potential; when we expand our view of what’s possible, the world brightens. “Neuroqueering” was originally conceived to describe a practice of liberating oneself from neuronormativity and heteronormativity simultaneously, available to anyone who wishes to experience it, regardless of identity (Nick Walker, 2021). In other words, we're inviting ourselves to release expectations that we have to fit into society's checkboxes, and see what unfolds naturally.
As an experience of connection with true Self, yoga transcends the limiting checkboxes of identity labels and diagnoses that are often necessary for queer and neurodivergent folks navigating our social world. Neuroqueering yoga is an act of creating space for our natural ways of being to shine, through slow, small, kind steps toward unmasking and embracing our differences.
Join us to explore what it’s like to neuroqueer yoga in ways that invite new understandings of ourselves and fellow humans. We’ll learn, practice, and share together in a neurodivergent-friendly space. You’re encouraged to show up just as you are, with no expectations beyond honoring ahimsa (Sanskrit for non-harm). Participate however you wish, cameras on or off. Sharing is always optional.
